Corfu

One half of a giant clam shell holds a bouquet of oranges & blossoms still attached to their branches. This painting started as a whimsical charcoal sketch on heavyweight cotton paper. I then added just enough paint to bring it to life, leaving the distinct sketchiness of the charcoal. I haven’t been to Corfu but would love to go someday and I’m sure I’m not alone; the show The Durrells of Corfu portrayed it as the most sleepy, magical little island! I can easily picture this clam shell washing up in the clear blue waters where the family sometimes placed their dinner table so they could enjoy a meal and cool their feet at the same time.
